Code Purple: Day Twelve

Remember this–
your palm, rough and twisted
skin pale as moonlight
breath the cool of ice,
tangible darkness
laced about your forehead–
only in the mirror
did the sun praise your lips,
only in a frame of distortion
could warmth greet your kiss.
