Code Purple: Day Seven

You were always
everywhere else.

I was caged
beneath a story
that others told
with my voice.

Mine settled into
a brief whisper.

Your name, friend
was lost in the wind
like a loose scarf in winter.

I grasped desperately
for your frayed edges,
and I am still seeking.
