DVAM Code-Purple: Day Twenty Five

I thought that, by now,
we would have saved our own skin.
Taught the men that we
are not for consumption.
I had thought by now
we would have been forgiven
for the sins that we
did not commit.
What crime have we dared,
to be held accountable
for the man’s willingness
to abuse our softness?
To pluck from us
the one gift that gave life
to every human creation?
How dreadful
would our children be
without a mother’s steady shelter?
